CAMPGROUNDS
Gather around a campfire to roast marshmallows and gaze up at the stars while camping at one of many campgrounds in the Zigzag Ranger District or the privately owned Mt. Hood Village RV Resort with all its amenities!
Forest Service campgrounds range from large busy lakeshore sites to smaller, more remote sites away from the crowds. Most campgrounds have drinking water and all have vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. Parking pads range from double sites for large RV’s and multiple vehicles to smaller tent sites that fit only one car. Reservations can be made to ensure a campsite on busy weekends. Campers staying mid-week in summer, spring, or fall offer numerous available campsites.

Lakeshore Gems
These sites are reserved early in the season and fill up fast, but all have some non-reservable sites.
Trillium Lake and Frog Lake Campgrounds are smaller lakes with warmer water for swimming, stocked fishing, and non-motorized boating. Both have trail systems from the campground.
Clear Lake Campground is on a larger lake but is drawn in mid to late summer for irrigation needs. Boat motors are limited to 10 mph.
Timothy Lake, the largest lake on the Forest, has six campgrounds: Oak Fork, Gone Creek, Hoodview, Pine Point, North Arm and Meditation Point (walk-in). Its cold waters offer great fishing with a 10 mph boat speed limit. A 13 mile trail around the lake is open to hikers, and bikers.
Closest to Zigzag
Campgrounds closest to Zigzag lie along our local creeks and rivers.
Green Canyon Campground sits in an old growth forest on the Salmon River. Trails lead out of the campground.
Tollgate Campground along the Zigzag River and Camp Creek Campground along Camp Creek are both adjacent to the historic Barlow Road and Pioneer Bridle Trail.
Lost Creek Campground located off of Lolo Pass Road has a couple of yurts and an old growth interpretive trail. It is near popular trailheads for the Mt. Hood Wilderness.

Privately Owned RV Parks
Mt. Hood Village RV Resort offers a variety of over 300 RV and tent campsites plus a variety of furnished cabins, yurts, and a new "tiny house village" to camp in comfort. With a heated pool, on-site restaurant and bakery, and many other amenities, it is definitely glamping!
